The Irish-bred son of Danehill started his career in promising style in Europe before the wheels fell off when he was exported to Hong Kong.

Clarry inherited him after a long lay-off and has worked wonders with him in Australia.

"He worked OK on Tuesday, but he’s a very lazy horse and I just decided it was best to run him in the Class 6 Plate (1615m) instead of the Chairman’s (2020m)," Conners said.

Although the barrier is no help, the set weights conditions favour Albertinelli. He would have been second top weight (behind My Limit) under handicap conditions, but because he has won only four races, comes in with 54.5kg.

"When I got him I had no idea what I was getting," Conners said.
