Classy three-year-old filly Dear Demi continued her progression towards her Group 1 targets with a dominant win in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm.

Champion trainer Clarry Conners knows what it takes to produce a VRC Oaks winner after taking the Flemington feature with champion fillies Research and Arborea.

Dear Demi won the Listed Fernhill Stakes (1600m) as a two-year-old before running a terrific second to unbeaten colt Pierro in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) in the autumn.

Trainer Clarry Conners has earmarked the Princess Series in Sydney, culminating with the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) in October, before taking Dear Demi to Melbourne for the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) a month later.

"That's the plan. She'll go to the (Group 2) Tea Rose Stakes in two weeks and then the Flight Stakes," he said.

"We'll head to Melbourne after that and I've got no doubt she'll run 2500 metres."

New Zealand jockey James McDonald took the ride on Dear Demi in the Furious Stakes, positioning her beyond midfield in the early and middle stages.

McDonald took the filly wide, ensuring clear running for Dear Demi, rounding the home turn before the daughter of Dehere surged clear of her opposition in the final furlong to score her second stakes win.

"She was brilliant today. The harder the fight, the more she goes," McDonald said. "She held them at bay and I can’t wait until she gets over further. It's very exciting."

Dear Demi’s victory was her third in 10 starts and took her Stakes tally to more than $370,000.
