DEAR DEMI

May 18, 2013

The Clarry Conners-trained Dear Demi showed the quality she possesses when scoring another feature race win in the $175,000 Group III Hidden Dragon The Roses (2000m) at Doomben on Saturday.
The daughter of Dehere was the winner of the VRC Oaks last year and the runner-up in the Australian Oaks last month. The three-year-old is now set to start the favourite in her quest for the Group I Queensland Oaks in two weeks time at Eagle Farm.

Jumping from the outside gate, jockey Luke Nolen was posted five and six horses wide aboard Dear Demi when the field ran out of the straight the first time but with the leaders going along the field broke up and worse than midfield he was able to establish a spot one horse off the fence.

From there Dear Demi had a good run before Nolen started to chase his mount nearing the turn. Dear Demi was the widest runner at the top of the straight and she let down strongly to charge to the front and score a smart win.
